Tips for Your Home Embroidery Projects

Embroidery and Monogram Placements:   There are no fix rules to where you must place an embroidered logo or monogram so it's best to let the person who will be receiving the finished item tell you where they want it sewn. At times, this may not be an option so the following tables were created to give embroiderers a general guide and starting point.

Embroidering for brides and newlyweds:
Here's a quick quide to remember when embroidering for brides to be or newlyweds:
Say Madison Betty Winters recently married Gregory Cameron Right and you want to monogram for Madison a set of towels and some sheets in a diamond pattern. These are some options that you might want to consider: MRG or GRM - the couple's last name goes in the middle with their first initials on either side. Which spouse goes first is a matter of preference. To have those sheets monogrammed in a horizontal pattern (all letters the same height and size), you may want to choose MGR or GMR. Which is the couple's first names followed by the last. However, if you want to monogram a few items for Madison only, you have a few more choices:
Diamond Pattern - MRW: Madison's first and maiden names flank her married name.
Horizontal Pattern - MR: Her first and married names, or MWR: Her first, maiden and married names.

The Diamond Pattern noted above can be applied to any monogram style where the middle letter is larger then the two letters on either side. Again, these are only suggestions. It's always best to ask the recipients what they prefer since they will be displaying it in their home.
